Silent Cinema with Live Accompaniment - The Docks of New York

The Department of Communication, Media and Film presents a special screening of The Docks of New York (Josef von Sternberg, USA,  

1928), with live musical accompaniment. The screening will be preceded by Manhatta (Paul Strand & Charles Sheeler, USA, 1921).

Admission is free! 

Music performed by Donald Sosin and Joanna Seaton:

For twenty years Donald Sosin and Joanna Seaton have created and performed music for classic silent films, featuring keyboard, vocals, electronics, and percussion. They have performed at major film festivals across the United States, and are often at MoMA and other New York venues such as BAM, the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the Whitney Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum. They perform regularly at the world’s largest silent film festival, Le Giornate del Cinema Muto in Pordenone and at Bologna’s Cinema Ritrovato, and have provided soundtracks for numerous silent films on DVD with Criterion, Kino, Milestone, and European labels.
