"Re-Tuned Media: Music, Software and Culture as Code”-

The digitization of a wide variety of media products (music, books, television, etc.) over the last two decades has brought with it a host of cultural, economic and industrial consequences for the production, promotion, and use of cultural goods. This talk reflects on findings from recent projects on the music commodity and on mobile apps to explore the creative and aesthetic potentials these new formats present, as well as the more concerning limitations and restraints they set on a user’s ability to sort, store and experience media.

The talk is free and all are welcome to attend.
