CMCL 501 - Modernity - Winter 2013
A critical integrative examination of the meaning of Modernity in western and non-western contexts with attention to literature, art, philosophy, religion and economic, political, scientific and social texts. Focus will be on major ideas, principles and their implications in the 19th and early 20th centuries including comparison with non-Western traditions.
