COMS 203 - New Media - Winter 2016

An introduction to the social, political and cultural aspects of new media. Students will examine the social factors that influence the use of new media, as well as the effects of new media on different spheres of social life. Topics to be examined include the historical development of new media; participatory cultures; copyright and Internet law; creative industries; and surveillance and governance in new media. Also known as: (formerly Science, Technology, and Society 341)
This course may not be repeated for credit.
